Founded on November 9, 1864, and named for the Pima people was Pima County, Arizona. Pima County is a county in the south-central region of Arizona. The county has a total area of 9,189 square miles, of which the size of the land is 9,187 square miles, and the area of the water is 2.1 square miles.

In 1681, the land called Pima County was previously controlled by Spain as a part of "Pimeria Alta," which now consists of the following counties; Sonora, Mexico, all aspects of Pima, Graham, Cochise, Greenlee, Pinal, and Santa Cruz Counties.

Pima County is one of the most reliably democratic counties in Arizona in terms of politics. An event occurs annually in the county known as the Pima County Fair. Notable places of interest are Tucson Gem & Mineral Show, Pima Air and Space Museum, Old Tucson Studios, Mission San Xavier del Bac, and Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum.

Between 2010 and 2020, the population of Pima County increased by 6.4%.

In Pima, the summers are scorching and sometimes cloudy. The winters are cold and, most times, clear. Over the year, the climatic temperature is rarely below 26°F or above 107°F and typically varies from 35°F to 101°F.
