The region around what would become Fort Collins was the territory of the Northern Arapaho people until the early 1800s. They initially welcomed settlers of European descent, but were nevertheless pushed out of the area by force of arms in the 1860s. Fart Collins itself was an outpost of the US Army intended to protect settlers and the mail route into the area. The fort itself was decommissioned in 1867, but by then a small town had already risen up around it.

It would be nearly 100 years before you could buy a mobile home in Fort Collins, CO, but it was already growing rapidly. It became the seat of county government in 1868, and was incorporated as a town in 1873. Classes began at the Fort Collins Agricultural College in 1879, and by the 1900s the local economy depended on stone quarrying, beet farming , sugar processing and livestock rearing.

Fort Collins, CO land is a big part of the Front Range urban Corridor, but the city itself is built on both sides of the Cache La Poudre River, near the Colorado Front Range of mountains. It is just 56 miles north of the state’s capital city, Denver, and 45 miles south of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Spring Creek also runs through the city. On a clear day you can see Longs Peak, and Horsetooth Mountain dominates the city’s skyline. The city takes up 37,423 acres, of which more than 800 acres are surface water. Before you start looking for mobile homes in Fort Collins, though, take a moment to think about what kind of neighborhood you want to live in. Who would you want your neighbors to be? Would you prefer to be lost to the center of the city for work, or would you prefer something more suburban with a commute? Every neighborhood has something different to offer. Fort Collins Neighborhoods Miramont If you are considering buying a mobile home in Fort Collins, try the neighborhood of Miramont. It is a fairly expensive neighborhood, with median home prices just below $600,000 as of 2020. What’s more, home prices have gone up by nearly 19% there in the last few years. Miramont is a smaller neighborhood with a bit of a commute to the city center, but it is a lovely place to live. Parkwood Parkwood is a great place to look for mobile homes in Fort Collins, CO. Housing prices are moderate for Fort Collins, with median values around the $475,000 mark. You’ll find a wide mix of architectural styles, including large single-family homes as well as bungalows and apartment buildings. The overall vibe is that of tree lined, suburban avenues. Home prices are rising here as well, but not as sharply as the first few neighborhoods we looked at – only around 8-9% per year. University Acres University Acres is a great place to look for Fort Collins mobile homes. Land and housing prices are high but not rising quite as quickly as in many parts of the city. The median home value in university Acres as of 2020 was just under $545,000. Appreciation was not high, though, with annual price increases coming in under 8%.

Fort Collins, CO’s population as of the 2020 census was 169,810. That is not quite a 16% jump from the 2010 population of 143,968. With the population growing so rapidly, buying a mobile home in Fort Collins is becoming much more practical than seeking a traditional single-family dwelling or even buying one of the city’s few available condos.
